Geometry + Galaxy Jewelry by PetitPlat Geometry + Galaxy Jewelry by PetitPlat
To Infinity and Beyond!!

As I'm keen on science, I have always been fascinated by the beauty of the images of the space. Galaxies, stars and nebulae force humility.
So I fabricated polymer clay bracelets, necklaces and earrings on which I painted galaxy, nebulae and other universe images.

xx

Awesome! Won't it break? I tried making earrings and pendants from polymer clay in the past, and despite a thick layer, when I made endurance test in my hands, they snapped :( So I decided I won't do these because I can't wear, give or sell something that breaks ^^; But I didn't use Sculpey, Fimo nor Premo, so my guess is... I just used shit-quality clay :P I wonder how resistant is real Sculpey? Can you actually wear it if you're clumsy and drop things on the floor a lot?

Yeah, it's pretty strong. It depends on the thickness and how large it is, but if you're semi-careful there isn't any reason it should break. I drop my necklaces sometimes and they're fine.

polymer clay is super strong. You probably didn't bake it properly.
My items fall on the ground all the time, never broke anything.
Unless it's very thin (like a sheet of paper), it won't break.

But, then of course, everything can break, if you're rough on sterling silver, you can break that kind of jewelry as well :)

Thank you! :) Could it be that I was using a bad kind of clay? (like, it had too much filler in it or something, which resulted in it being brittle and just not flexible enough after curing)? As I said, it was a no-brand, locally produced product ^^;
What are your favourite brands of clay, may I ask?:aww: Do you use just one type for one artpiece or mix brands in freely, depending on colours you need?

Sorry for the late reply, I'm never really around dA.
I only use Fimo.
I know of some people who mix the brands freely though, but that's a bit of ongoing discussion if it's a good idea or not :)
